Last year, as part of napcrg's long term response to the future of family medicine report , we formed a committee on advancing the science of family medicine with representation from the aafp and our other family medicine organizations. over the past year, this committee has published an article in jama discussing the important role that family physicians can play in translational research. we also have published a working paper for the institute of medicine on practice based research networks as learning communities and created a list of topics relevant to family medicine research that we can communicate that clearly among our various organizations, and then also with our funding agencies and the congress. in addition, they have collected a group of stories from practice based research network members about research questions and capacity building efforts that have been fostered by practice based research networks. these stories define what family medicine research is and can be and how we can help to answer research questions that are important to the health of the american people. i want to thank you for your continued support of family medicine research. in particular, the great success of the annals of family medicine supported by all of our organizations has lent added credibility to our research and to our discipline. in order to capitalize on the opportunities presented by the focus on translational research we must continue to partner with each other to encourage our family physicians to participate in research that will improve practice and display our discipline's value in the healthcare system. once again, thank you for your support of research and researchers and we look forward to working with you through the next years. thank you.
